Cheerleaders flipped around, jumped high and glided through the air at the All Star Cheerleading Federation Winterfest competitions on the weekend.
The competitions took place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in South Wharf on Saturday and Sunday, where spectators watched and cheered on all the impressive performers who trained tirelessly for the big event.
The fun doesn’t stop there — Victoria is one of four states in Australia to host the All Star Cheerleading competitions.
Queensland was the first state to host the event — from June 14 to June 16 — and New South Wales on June 21 to June 23, wrapping up in South Australia from July 5 to July 7.
Just in time for school holidays, the crowd saw some phenomenal performances from cheerleaders of all ages.
All Star cheerleading involves females and/or males performing two minute & 30 second routines composed of stunting, pyramids, group tumbling, jumping and a dance break.
The routines are performed and scored against other competitive teams at various local, regional, national and worldwide competitions.
Beginners athletes performed in both cheer and dance on Saturday morning, with the higher level athletes who competed in the categories in the evening.
Sunday afternoon featured mid-level athletes competing in cheer and the younger athletes competing in dance.
The Herald Sun was there to take pictures of both supporting spectators and athletes.
Tickets to the Winterfest competitions across the country can be purchased on this website.
