St Albans man arrested at Kavanagh St, Southbank Blvd burglary with copper pipe and power tool

A man was allegedly caught red-handed with large amounts of copper and a power tool after police were called to an active burglary in Southbank overnight.

An alleged copper thief’s grand plans were bungled overnight after police caught the man in Southbank with a large amount of pipe and a power tool.

A St Albans man is assisting police after he was allegedly located outside a vacant building near Kavanagh St and Southbank Blvd about 12.30am.

Officers were called to reports of a burglary in progress and arrested a man in possession of a large quantity of copper pipe and a power tool.

It is believed up to two other men were also involved in the alleged burglary.

Despite a thorough search assisted by the K9 unit, no accomplice was located.
