Police and emergency services are continuing to search along the Yarra River for a man last seen early in October.
Abbotsford’s Owen Wright, 28, was last seen walking along Victoria St at about 9pm on Wednesday, October 5
His parents Michelle and Darren Vucko have made an emotional public appeal for any information on their son’s whereabouts.
“We just want to know that he’s OK,” Ms Vucko said.
Mr Wright has not made contact with friends or family since his disappearance almost six weeks ago and Ms Vucko said this was “extremely out of character”.
“He’s always in touch with friends, he has such a wide social network and he’s just not been in touch with any of his friends throughout Australia,” she said.
“He's very kind and generous, that’s how everyone describes him and that’s how he is.”
An image of Mr Wright has been released in the hope someone can provide information on his current whereabouts.
Ms Vucko said she had a message she wanted to get to her son to encourage him to return home.
“If Owen is out there, if he is hiding for whatever reason or if he feels that he's in trouble, (the message is) that he’s not in trouble,” she said.
She said the family was not aware of any circumstances that would have led to Mr Wright‘s disappearance.
“It's difficult … no parent wants to be going through this,” Ms Vucko said.
Police said they hold concerns for his welfare due to a medical condition.
Mr Wright is caucasian with dark hair and tattoos covering his arms, body and legs.
He was last seen wearing a puffer jacket and all black clothing.
Police and SES are searching along the Yarra River from Abbotsford to Richmond.
Anyone who sights Mr Wright is urged to phone Richmond police station on 8420 3600.
