Three witnesses will be questioned at a court hearing into the alleged arson of a Docklands nightclub in January 2023.
Lalor man Jemli Reuben Williams Mariner, 32, will face a committal hearing more than two years after floating nightclub ATET, located in Victoria Harbour, was engulfed in flames.
The blaze left the popular club in ashes just one week after it reopened its doors.
The venue was empty at the time of the fire, but the owners were left with more than $350,000 in damages.
Photos from the venue showed charred tables and chairs, and significant damage to the interior of the club.
Mr Williams Mariner was charged in July this year, failing to appear at a court hearing in October.
The fire followed months of backlash from the Docklands community over the nightclub’s noise pollution.
Mr Williams Mariner faces charges including criminal damage by fire (arson) and possession of methamphetamines.
At Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday, it was heard CCTV allegedly captured Mr Williams Mariner starting the fire using an accelerant.
The case will continue on February 17, 2025 for a one-day committal at which three witnesses will be questioned, including an arson chemist.
