A 65-year-old woman has died in a motorcycle crash at a training facility in Melbourne’s north.
It’s understood the learner rider was enrolled at a course at Honda Australia Rider Training on Hume Hwy in Somerton on October 1 when she lost control and crashed into a fence at around 11.25am.
The Caulfield North woman died at the scene, according to Victoria Police who said they will prepare a report for the Coroner.
A WorkSafe spokesman said the safety regulator had begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“The death brings the workplace fatality toll to 44 for 2022,” he said.
“Which is 12 fewer than at the same time last year.”
Victoria is on the verge of recording its deadliest year for motorcyclists since 2017, with 43 deaths recorded so far this year.
