Fans of the Netflix hit Bridgerton will have to get in line to read the series with library waitlists for the romance already up to a year.
The saucy, historical fiction, which features eight siblings in 19th century high society London, rose popularity on the Australian streaming app last year.
Now across Melbourne libraries you will have to join a waiting list of at least 30 people to read just the first book in the collection, The Duke and I.
Borrowers are given a 21-day loan period and the option to renew four times.
This means the potential wait time is blown out to a year if each copy is taken home for full time allowed.
And the delay doesn’t stop at the first book.
The wait time continues for books two to eight, with less than three books of each available across Melbourne libraries.
At Yarra Library there are three copies of the first book, each with a 15-person waitlist.
The period drama has it’s fair share of intimate scenes as the men and women of Regency London’s high society look for love.
The novels follow Daphne Bridgerton, who is the eldest daughter from a wealthy family, as she enters her first season in society in her journey to find a husband.
Miss Bridgerton and her fellow characters are met by intrigue as gossip columnist, Lady Whistledown, whose identity is unknown, spreads scandal throughout London’s aristocracy.
Bridgerton book reader Jess Naylor said it wasn’t just the romance that kept her addicted to the series.
“I enjoyed watching the series and was interested in seeing how they became such a huge phenomenon,” Ms Naylor said.
“I also love romance novels in general but had never read a regency one so wanted to try something new while also supporting the genre as a whole.
“I actually really love the family dynamics in the books. Obviously the romance is good too, but I love learning more about all the different siblings which each book.
“Also there’s something really lush and indulgent about them and it really hits the spot.”
