A New Zealand international who allegedly injured two people inside a Melbourne immigration detention centre — including one on Christmas Day — has faced court.

Braghan Dara McLeod appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday via videolink after being charged by the Australian Federal Police.

The 33-year-old remained seated in his green tracksuit from custody with short black hair and a light beard.

Court documents revealed McLeod allegedly injured two people inside the Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation facility at Broadmeadows on two separate dates.

Police allege one incident took place on Christmas Day in 2021 where he unlawfully and intentionally injured someone.

He was further charged with the same offence at the same facility just months later on May 5 2022.

His appearance on Wednesday was listed as a plea but his lawyer requested an adjournment to line up with other court matters.

The Whittlesea man was further charged with traffic related matters at Yarragon in West Gippsland from October last year.

He is expected to appear via video link for a plea on November 1.
