The family of a 45-year-old man who died in a spa while on a golfing holiday has paid a touching tribute to him.
Matt Foreman of Mount Gambier was with a group of friends enjoying a spa on Thursday when he was found unresponsive in the water.
Emergency services were called to Rich River Golf Club and Resort in Moama, in the NSW Riverland, at about 7pm but despite attempts by guests and paramedics, Mr Foreman could not be revived.
His family, friends and the golfing community have remembered Mr Foreman as someone who put everyone else first.
Speaking on behalf of his family, his younger sister Dani described her big brother as “funny and loved by all”.
Mr Foreman leaves behind his children Will, James, Ben and Kate. He was also father to a fifth child, Jack, who had passed away.
Sadly the man could not be revived and was declared to be deceased at the scene.
It’s understood the man suffered a medical episode.
Rich River chief executive Shane Gloury said the “shocked and saddened” club was throwing its arms around staff who tried to save the man.
“We acknowledge the efforts of our staff, guests and paramedics that tried to revive the man and are providing ongoing counselling support to these individuals at this difficult time,” Mr Gloury said.
“We extend our deepest sympathy and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased man.”
The man had travelled from the Mt Gambier region for a golfing escape with a group of about 30 people, Mr Gloury said.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
