It is not hard to see why Jordan Gilbert is a state champion sprinter — and record holder to boot.

The 11-year-old from Wheelers Hill bursts out of the blocks with intensity and purpose, accelerating with every step.

It is that technique which has seen the Nunawading Little Athletics Club runner leave competitors in his wake, streaming to a 26.75 seconds Little Athletics under 11 boys state record win in the 200m.

With a 100m personal best time of 13.13 seconds, the Jells Park Primary School student has more records in his sights.

With his love of running unabated, Jordan takes to his twice-weekly training with gusto.

He has also had stints at the Pacific School Games and School Sports Australia national championships, winning medals at both competitions.
