Burwood East baseballer Flynn Morrison nominated for Leader Local Sports Star award

FLYNN Morrison wants to hit a home run for his home state when competes at the 2017 School Sports Championships this weekend.

The talented 17-year-old baseballer from Burwood East will fly to Cairns this week to compete in the Under 17s national baseball tournament at Trinity Beach from April 30 to May 6.

Flynn, a catcher and third base, has played for both the Waverley Wildcats and Forest Hill Eagles, and was last year selected to represent the Ringwood area at the Under 18s winter state tournament where the team went undefeated.

But Flynn has his eyes on a larger prize — to one day play baseball in the USA — and said he hopes to help the Victorian baseball team win the School Sport Championships in the process.

Flynn has been nominated for a Whitehorse Leader junior Sports Star Award.

The Sports Star program is now a national celebration, and junior category winners will be judged for national awards.

Cash prizes as well as vouchers from our sponsor Sportsmart are up for grabs.
