The club has confirmed senior coach Ziggy Kadour has elected to stand down from the role at the end of the 2022 season.

Kadour has guided the Western Region league Division 2 club through the past five seasons after he was first appointed in 2018.

Throughout his time in charge, Newport has not played finals footy although were on track to in 2021 before Covid again claimed another season.

“The Newport Football Club would like to announce that Ziggy Kadour has decided to step down as senior coach at the end of season 2022,” the club said in a statement released on Monday night.

“With the senior group now entrenched in Division 2, Ziggy has decided now is the best time to step aside and allow the club to begin their search for the next senior coach early.

“Newport Football Club would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge (and) thank Ziggy for his outstanding contribution to our football club.”
