A pair of great mates are set to lead Wyndhamvale forward.
Jason Parker and Rob May have been appointed as the Falcons’ new senior coaches for the 2023 season.
Parker previously served as an assistant coach to former mentor Luke Wenlock who has now taken on the role of football manager at the club.
May returns to the coaching fold for the first time in several years.
The pair share a relationship away from footy and have previously worked together at several clubs in the past.
Wyndhamvale president Steve Tessari is excited about their potential.
“They’re happy to be back together,” he said.
“I think it helps with them knowing each other for such a long time and what works for the other. They’ve been together at a few clubs and we’re excited to get them on board.
“Having Bear (Parker) in the role makes for a smooth transition from Luke because he knows a lot of the players and what they’re about.
“We’re looking forward to watching our playing group develop under this new partnership.”
It’s been a busy off-season for the Falcons already having retained “99 per cent” of its playing list for next year.
The senior side was eliminated in the first week of finals by North Footscray while the reserves went onto win the premiership from fourth place.
Playing numbers were consistently strong throughout the season with players often missing selection in the reserves.
“It does make it hard when guys are missing out but to their credit they kept turning up,” Tessari said.
“It was great they never disappeared. We’re hoping to start a thirds team next season to help ease a bit of the pressure.
“But we need to look at how we do that, we might have to look at the Riddell competition if the WRFL wasn’t to introduce their own.
“We’ve got a good group together and there’s a good feeling around the club at the moment.”
