A country footy grand final has been marred by a post-match brawl involving spectators and players.

Video footage has emerged of the incident following the Kyabram District Football Netball League decider between Lancaster and Murchison-Toolamba on Saturday afternoon.

In videos obtained by Leader, fans can be seen rushing onto the ground at the conclusion of the game with swearing clearly audible from people behind the camera.

“You see hands being thrown everywhere,” one person said in the background.

The KDFNL announced on Sunday morning the incident was under review.

“The KDL Executive are taking this matter seriously and will be seeking the cooperation of the clubs to identify those involved in these incidents,” a league statement said.

“The actions of some involved in the incident are extremely disappointing and dangerous and not reflective of the inclusive environment which the KDL has fostered.

“We will take actions necessary to ensure the integrity of the KDL including standards and behaviour are maintained for all involved within the KDL.

“The KDL strongly condemns violence and sees no place for it on or off the field.

“The KDL Executive Committee will not be providing any further comment at this stage.”

A Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed officers attended the scenes with the crowd “separating” when they arrived about 5pm.

“There were no injuries or formal reports of assault to police,” the spokesperson said.

Murchison-Toolamba president Craig Thompson said his club was “not in a position to comment about what occurred at the conclusion of the match”.

Lancaster won their first premiership in 11 years defeating Murchison-Toolamba 6.10 (46) to 5.6 (36).

Despite kicking just one goal after half time the Wombats led at every change to hold off the Grasshoppers.

Lancaster won the premiership after finishing third at the end of the home-and-away season.

They lost to the Grasshoppers in the first final, by 27 points, before beating Nagambie and Stanhope to get their chance again against Murchison-Toolamba in the decider.

Cameron Simpson, Coby O’Neill, Nicholas Ryan, Sam Vick and Zac Cerrone kicked the goals for Lancaster as Leigh Wellington finished with two majors in a losing effort.

The Wombats also took out the reserves grand final after comfortably accounting for Avenel 10.11 (71) to 4.3 (27).
