ESSENDON DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE: Limbach cops striking charge

Craigieburn says it hopes “common sense prevails” when its star forward Dean Limbach fronts the tribunal on Tuesday. Limbach was reported for striking during the third quarter of the Eagles’ EDFL clash with Jacana on Saturday. The spearhead has rejected an offer of a set two-match penalty and will challenge the ban at tribunal. He could also appeal if found guilty. Limbach, who has booted 65 goals from 11 games, will miss the club’s top-three clash against Tullamarine and a clash with ladder-leader Airport West if he is rubbed out for two weeks. “Dean is a clear ball player, a former listed AFL player, played VFL for Richmond and has never been reported in 23 years of football, including the top level,” Craigieburn coach Peter Bugden said.
