Port Melbourne Colts is in search of its next coach after the sudden resignation of Josh Caddy.
Caddy, a premiership player at Richmond, steered the Colts to a preliminary final this season where they lost to eventual premier Cheltenham.
Injuries withheld him from a fluent year as a player but his presence on the ground when fit was prominent.
Work and family commitments are the reasons behind his resignation.
Caddy, 31, has agreed to remain at the Colts as an assistant coach.
He is expected to play again in 2024 but the extent of his availability is unknown.
Colts footy boss Elton Stevens said: “We can’t thank Josh enough for getting us back on the right track, we still look forward to his contribution in 2024.”
The Colts have had a strong off-season, signing star ruckman Shem Tatupu as well as Elsternwick premiership player Jackson Vargas.
