After just two years at the helm, Doveton will part ways with coach Michael Cardamone at the close of the 2023 season.

Cardamone, who has steered the Doves for 35 games, was told on Thursday that he would not be required in 2024.

The playing-coach was a straight kick away from a premiership in his debut season last year and has the Doves third on the ladder with an 11-5 record in 2023.

Doveton is the only side to have defeated Southern league Division 2 frontrunners East Brighton this season.

Cardamone hasn’t played since July but will coach out the remainder of the year.

Of his nine losses to date, three have been by six points or less.

Cardamone joined Doveton at the start of 2022 after extensive Eastern Football Netball League experience.

Cardamone and club president John Stapleton declined to comment.
