The Kangaroos jumped to fifth spot after a third successive win, inspired by Mitch Cuthbert, Nick Tuddenham, Haydn Golby and Jesse Murphy (five goals). For Somerville, Justin Allsopp, Lachlan Haskett and Tim McGenniss stuck at it.
Red Hill came from behind to beat Hastings 11.14 (80) to 8.6 (54). Hastings, desperately trying to cling on to fifth spot, played with spirit to lead by 15 points at quarter time and 10 at halftime but Red Hill clicked into gear to kick eight goals to three in the second half, with Jonah Siversen, Zach Vines, Daniel McNamara, Jake Mitchell and Dylan Hoare showing the way. Chris Moloney, Aaron Vinson, Terry Green and Jake Hewitt were good for the Blues.
Dale Binks, Brad Harbinson and Ethan Rahilly helped Tyabb to a gripping eight-point win over Devon Meadows 10.8 (68) to 7.18 (60). The Yabbies lost the lead in the third term but rallied to secure their fifth win of the season.
Pearcedale continued its late-season surge, finishing hard to beat Rye 10.15 (75) to 6.12 (48). Luke Daniel, Luke Murray, Damien Scully, Zane Hill, Luke Dalmau and Travis Bravo were instrumental as the Dales climbed to seventh spot.
