The Bulldogs would have been excused for putting the cue in the rack at halftime when they led by 151 points after piling on 23 goals in the opening half on their home ground.

But the onslaught had only just started.

Tarrawingee, located about 250km north-east of Melbourne, piled on 18.7 in the third term to increase its advantage by more than 100 points.

The damage was not done as the Bulldogs took full toll, kicking 15.3 in the last term on their way to a 56.24 (360) to 2.2 (14) demolition.

Frazer Judd booted a remarkable 21 goals in the canter, while Daniel Salmon bagged nine and their teammates Hugh Amery and Jason Cook kicked five apiece.

Tarrawingee’s third-quarter blitz was higher than any total produced in AFL history.

South Melbourne piled on 106 points (17.4) in one term against St Kilda in 1919, which remains the highest single-quarter total in the competition’s history.

In more recent times, Essendon ran riot with 15 majors in the first quarter against Gold Coast in 2011, while Geelong (Round 7, 1992) and Adelaide (Round 17, 1996) slammed on 14 majors in a term against Brisbane Bears and Fitzroy respectively.

Judd had kicked eight goals against Goorambat and 12 against North Wangaratta this year and his 21 majors took him to 60 in 10 games for the campaign.

Tarrawingee posted 14.4 in the last quarter of its Round 10 win against North Wangaratta and 11.6 in one term when it last played Bonnie Doon.

Saturday’s win boosted the Bulldogs’ percentage by almost 50, from 301.6 to 351.3.
