Even the Hawthorn midfielder’s most prolific performances don’t compare to the statistics Seymour co-coach Jason Cole amassed on Saturday.
The champion on-baller finished with 60 possessions and six goals to lead his injury-ravaged side to an upset 38-point victory over Goulburn Valley Football League flag contender Benalla.

“I was a bit blown away by the numbers, they were amazing,” Seymour president Craig Velt said.
“But he was bloody awesome, like he is every week.”
Cole is enjoying a season to remember, named the Lions’ best player in 10 of their 12 matches.
In the two he was overlooked, he was adjudged their second best.
“He is a phenomenal player,” Velt said.
“He’s captained the GV, he’s best on ground in those matches just about every time.
“He’s one of those that probably should be in the AFL.”
Hawthorn star Mitchell broke Greg Williams’ AFL record in Round 1 this year when he had 54 possessions against Collingwood.
Mitchell hit the 50-mark for the third time in his career on Saturday night against Greater Western Sydney, but even he can’t match Cole’s incredible numbers.
“He commands the ball. His voice is what really does it,” Velt said.
“He’s the best or in the top two just about every week for us. He’d be a fairly warm favourite for the Morrison Medal (league best and fairest).”
Seven spots separate the sides on the GVFL ladder, yet Cole’s heroics lifted Seymour to its fifth win of the campaign, 16.13 (109) to 11.5 (71).
“He had 50 possessions with 10 minutes to go and it was like, ‘mate, you can put the cue in the rack’,” Velt said.
As for the accuracy of the stats, Seymour has a more advanced system than many local clubs.
“A couple of our under-18 guys have been doing it,” Velt said.
“There’s one on the iPad and someone calling it. They use an iPad and record it. It’s not professional, but it is two-person stats.”
