Adam Treloar to coach Noble Park’s under-17 junior team

A local footy club in Melbourne’s east will have one of the AFL’s best midfielders on board as a junior coach next season. Here’s how it happened.

Western Bulldogs star Adam Treloar is heading back to where it all began, but not as a player — instead he’ll be there as a coach.

The 254-game AFL player will coach Noble Park’s under-17 team next year.

Treloar, who played with the Bulls as a junior, has already coached a team before.

In 2017 he took on the under-12 team while he was playing for Collingwood.

Now, he’s back for another chance to help out his home club.

“Adam’s always stayed connected with the club, he comes down and watches games and interacts with the kids,” Noble Park junior president Trish Marson said.

“He reached out and said if all is able and works with the Bulldogs, I’d like to help.

“We made a plan and that was that.”

Treloar will coach the team during the week and on weekends which don’t clash with his AFL games.

Marson said the club would organise a coaching structure to help Treloar when his AFL commitments interfere.

“(The kids are) extremely positive, they are extremely excited,” Marson said.

“He’ll spend time with a lot of age groups. He’ll come down and spend time with them.

“He’s got a very good report with kids in the group.

“I think it is really nice for the children in our area to see someone from their area who has gone through some diversity and still is very grounded.

“They are excited for the potential this move might bring with Adam here.”
