The Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League has given Devon Meadows and Hastings an opportunity to play its Round 6 match after it was abandoned on Saturday.

The game didn’t start after an injury to a player late in the reserves match caused a long delay, and at 2.45pm umpires decided to abandon play in the seniors.

On Monday, the MPFNL floated the idea of playing the Panthers-Blues senior match on the King’s Birthday weekend next month.

There are no other MPFNL games scheduled over the June 10-11 period.

Both Devon Meadows and Hastings have until Tuesday afternoon to decide.

It’s understood if one club declines, the league will rule the match a draw and the points will be shared.

The Devon Meadows player who was injured in the reserves on Saturday, Daniel Tocknell, has been cleared of spinal injuries.

A Hastings player will appear at the MPFNL tribunal on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Sorrento has picked up a late recruit, signing Subiaco key position player Bailey Holt.

He will join his former Subiaco teammates Chad Harris and Jack Beverley at the Sharks.

“He will land in time for the Bonbeach game (on May 27),” Sorrento coach Leigh Poholke said.

Holt is originally a Sorrento junior. In 2020 he was recruited by Rosebud, where his dad Russell Holt played in a flag.
