Flower vending machine a major hit

A florist in Melbourne’s northeast has changed the game for last minute shoppers, filling a vending machine with bouquets of flowers outside the shop for those who left it late to spoil their loved ones.

The Little Flower Box in Templestowe has become the ultimate life saver for last minute gift givers, with many using the 24/7 vending machine after hours to save themselves the embarrassment of turning up somewhere empty-handed.

The shop’s owner Nastaran said the vending machine was “very popular” among customers at all hours.

“We’re closed on Sundays but whenever I come in on a Monday it’s always empty,” she said.

“It’s quick and easy for customers, especially when the shop is closed people can come past and get their flowers without any worries.

“We get a range of people using it, it’s very handy for all occasions and very unique ... I haven’t seen one anywhere else.”

The vending machine has a tap and go system, with prices ranging between $35 and $60.

The Little Flower Box has been a staple at the shops on Anderson St for more than a decade, with the store winning the People’s Choice Award at the 2014 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.

It comes Meat Heath Butchers in Blairgowrie installed Victoria’s first meat vending machine, with people able to get pick up fresh meat at the press of a button.
