SUPREME COURT JUDGE URGES FAIL STUDENT TO ‘MOVE ON’

The former Sandringham Secondary College student and his druggie girlfriend, Skye La Rosa, had attempted to extort cash from La Rosa’s ex-boyfriend, Christopher Beggs.

The pair threatened and intimidated Beggs during an 11-day ordeal in July 2016.

The terrifying ordeal began when Lodin confronted Beggs on July 8 and demanded he hand over $4,000.

Lodin warned his victim “not to call police” as he was “affiliated” and ordered Beggs he had until the next day to hand over the cash.

The pair met the next day, and Lodin punched Beggs, breaking his glasses, and set his dog upon the frightened builder after he handed Lodin significantly less cash than the thug had demanded.

A few days later, Beggs barricaded himself into his Mornington home and hid in the roof when Lodin and La Rosa attended to make more money demands.

The drug affected pair rifled through his home before stealing a phone, wallet and power tools.

Later that month, police arrested the pair at their Cheltenham home — which was leased fraudulently.

A search of the property uncovered significant quantities of property suspected to be proceeds of crime including a motorbike, iPads, computers, tools, identity documents, and a PlayStation.

The Pakistani-born Lodin has an extensive criminal history with priors that include drug trafficking, armed robbery, firearm possession, fraud, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, theft and ice use.

Lodin, who also goes by the first names Ahmad or Ahmed, is also a known middleman between outlaw bikie gangs and youth gangs Apex and Young Crucified Warriors.

Lodin, 33, was sentenced to a maximum of four years and nine months but will be eligible for parole after three years.

La Rosa, 38, was jailed for multiple fraud, aggravated burglary, assault and theft convictions.

She was also sentenced to a maximum of four years and nine months but will be eligible for parole after three years.

Beggs said in his victim impact statement he felt “isolated” and suffered “depression and lack of motivation” after the ordeal.

County Court Judge Geoffrey Chettle said Lodin’s attack on Beggs “represents a serious example of that offence”.
