A CAT has been found bound by cable ties, with a threatening note tied around its neck, in a sickening case of animal cruelty in Research.
The grey pet cat was released from its home near the corner of Main and Reynolds Rd on September 30, the horrified owner told the RSPCA.
But it returned about two hours later with its neck, tail and leg “tightly bound” by cable ties, Inspector Karen Collier said.
A note warning “keep your cat locked up or else” was attached to the feline, who was also sprayed with an “odourless green substance”, tMs Collier said.

Ms Collier said cat abuse is “all too common” when they stray into neighbouring properties.
“They are often subjected to cruelty such as illegal traps, being locked in sheds or under
houses and being shot with rifles or bows,” Ms Collier said.
“We are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist with our investigation or help us find the person or persons responsible.”
If found the person responsible is found guilty of causing unreasonable pain or suffering to an animal, can face fines up to $40,297.50, or 12 months jail.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to phone RSPCA Victoria on 9224 2222 or at rspcavic.org
