A Clayton South woman accused of carrying out a terrifying string of home invasions, including a machete attack on two elderly people has fronted court.
Tammy Phillips, 41, faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 24, on 19 charges including home invasion, theft and motor vehicle theft.
Police allege Ms Phillips and a co-accused man — a 29-year-old from Point Cook — carried out a series of home invasions across Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs over the weekend, including a terrifying alleged assault of a 73-year-old man.
The court heard police have arrested her co-accused and were expected to charge him on Monday.
Police believe the alleged spree began on the afternoon of February 21 with an alleged aggravated burglary in Prahran.
It’s alleged the duo threatened the alleged victim with a machete before fleeing the scene in an allegedly stolen car.
Police say a second aggravated burglary was carried out in Keysborough just hours later, leaving a 73-year-old man with machete wounds to his face.
The pair allegedly struck again on Saturday morning, allegedly slashing a woman vacuuming her car at a Bay Rd car wash in Cheltenham.
A 77-year-old Kew woman was also allegedly attacked by the duo on Sunday, where she was also confronted with the machete.
Police caught up with Ms Phillips and her co-accused on Sunday night, where they were arrested and multiple weapons were allegedly seized by police.
Ms Phillips fronted court from the docks and made no application for bail.
She will return to the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on March 4 and later at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on May 19.
