Marlaine Couzin Wood safe and well following Malvern crash

Blackburn North’s Marlaine Couzin Wood knows just how quickly life can be turned upside down, after the car she was driving was clipped by an out-of-control motorist last month.

Marlaine Couzin Wood of Blackburn North knows just how quickly things can go wrong on the road.

She was driving on Belgrave Rd, Malvern, to meet friends for dinner about 7pm on January 30 when a man travelling towards her in the opposite direction lost control of his car, veered in front of her, and clipped her car before slamming into a nearby building.

She said she was in a “state of shock” following the crash and she couldn’t thank first respondents, including witnesses and Malvern police, enough for their care and attention.

“Fortunately no one was hurt … it had just started raining and the road was quite slippery,” Mrs Couzin Wood said.

“Immediately after the collision a young woman came to check if I was ok, she was very kind and helpful. On the footpath was a young man, a real gentleman, who very kindly called my husband Bob as I was unable to phone.

“(And) enough cannot be said for the two police women who arrived on scene shortly after the call was made.”

Malvern police Senior Sergeant Jacki Dixon said the police members who responded were Constable Gray and First Constable Law and she was pleased to hear Mrs Couzin Wood was ok.

“I am pleased to hear that in a time of need and stress for Marlaine that she was able to get reassurance and a prompt response from these two officers,” she said.
