A SEEDY Sandringham shop that was actually a front for an illegal brothel “that everyone knew about” has finally been shut down.
And a second dodgy sex shop in Malvern East has also had an unhappy ending.
Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court has declared two sites as “proscribed brothels”, with notices put up warning punters not to go inside.

A third case against a perceived illegal brothel in Oakleigh was adjourned in court on September 20.
The court heard the Sandringham site, at 92 Station St, was so well known among the community that a politician had reported it to police.
It had been operating as a massage parlour with a variety of online names, but as of earlier this week it is vacant and signage has been removed.
Magistrate Rodney Crisp said affidavits tendered to the court (but not made public) showed how widespread it was that sexual services were being provided there.
“It’s been going on, everyone knew about it, even the local member (of Parliament),” Mr Crisp said.
“The whole of Sandringham seems to have known, they knew and they weren’t happy about it.”

The property owner’s son, Dean Marshall, denied to the court that it was common knowledge that the site was an illegal brothel.
Mr Marshall said as soon as his parents, who live in Torquay, were notified by police they moved to kick the leaseholders out.
A lawyer representing the 96 Waverley Rd, Malvern East property owner also said they were unaware what the shop was being used for.
Mr Crisp said if owners didn’t know what the leaseholders were doing, “they should have” and granted the applications to declare both sites as illegal brothels.
He said property owners in general needed to be careful, and proscribed orders were a “positive outcome” for law enforcement and the wider community.
The proscribed notices, which will be plastered over the front of the shops, mean anyone entering the premises for sexual services is liable to be prosecuted.
