It’s one of the most imposing sites in one of Melbourne’s most blue-chip suburbs — and it’s tipped to sell for at least $16m.

Fitzroys and Aston Commercial have listed 71-73 Church St and 36 Carpenter St in the bayside suburb of Brighton for sale, via expressions of interest only.

Commercial Real Estate lists the red bricked Boom Style Era property as a “trophy investment” in the retail hub of one of Melbourne’s top shelf shopping strips.

Previously home to the Brighton post office, the building is under state heritage overlay. and lists Nike, Laurent and Ecco Shoes among its tenants with alongside two office spaces, rented by White Fox Real Estate and 2 Construct.

Fitzroys’ Chris Kombi told Leader a five-week campaign has recently closed — with interest high.

“We expect the property to go for around $16 million,” Mr Kombi said.

“As expected we saw a huge interest in the property.”

The three level property was last sold two decades ago.

The property is also neighbour to other major retailers including Woolworths, Mecca, Country Road, alongside all major banks, and is located closely to Middle Brighton railway station.

With nine car spots available at the rear end of the property, it is also close to a number of prestigious schools, including Brighton Grammar School.

“At this stage I can’t really say anything else, but we did receive a number of offers,” Mr Kombi said.

“We’re planning to have reached a finalised offer sometime next week.”
