A furious mother whose son was savagely attacked by a gang of vicious thugs at Hampton Beach wants the culprits caught as soon as possible.

Helen, who didn’t want her surname published, said the “terrifying” attack had left her 15-year-old son and his two mates “petrified”.

The three boys were sitting by the water near the Hampton Life Saving Club about 9pm on January 14 when they were surrounded by a group of 15 youths.

The gang turned on Helen’s son kicking the helpless teen in the head countless times.

She said the savage and unprovoked attack continued even after the boy had slumped to the sand unconscious.

Helen said her son had “no hope in hell”.

“They just kept kicking until he was unconscious,” she said.

“I spoke to him five minutes before it happened and told him to be careful in the water but I didn’t say ‘watch out, you might get bashed’.

“I’m in shock, I can’t believe this happened in Hampton, because this doesn’t happen in Hampton, we live here because it’s safe.”

The angry mum said one of the boys managed to escape and run the 2km home barefoot. The third boy was chased into the sea until he was neck high in water.

The teenagers said their attackers formed a line on the beach to prevent the young man from returning.

Helen said when her son came to he joined his mate in the water as the gang stalked them from the beach. He had his phone and was able to call police who arrived quickly.

“The boys are absolutely petrified they can’t make any sense of what happened,” Helen said.

“My son was very lucky, if the attack had happened on concrete then he could’ve been a vegetable or dead.

“He won’t go back to the beach now, he’s too terrified.”

Teen charged with murder of young woman

She is calling for anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward.

“The beach was packed at the time so someone had to see something, we just want information so these youths can be caught and we can make the beach safe again,” she said.

“These thugs were intent on causing havoc so we have to let people know this is happening, we want parents to warn their children.”

Bayside police confirmed they were investigating.

A spokesman said there was “an altercation on Hampton Beach near the life saving club. A victim suffered minor injuries. Police are canvassing for witnesses”.
