Two men were arrested after allegedly ramming a police car in a shopping centre car park before driving down the wrong side of the Maroondah Highway.

Two men were arrested after allegedly ramming a police car before driving on the wrong side of the Maroondah Hwy on Thursday.

Police located an allegedly stolen Ford Ranger in a shopping centre car park, believed to have been stolen in an aggravated burglary in Belmont on January 12.

The driver of the ute then allegedly rammed a police car and a parked car before taking off on Burwood Highway about 11.20am.

Officers deployed stop sticks nearby, but the car continued driving with the passenger side tires down to the rim.

Police allege the Ford continued to drive erratically on Kent Ave and lost toolboxes from the back before driving on the wrong side of the Maroondah Hwy.

About 12.20pm, police caught up with the car and arrested the driver on Binbrook Dr, Croydon and shortly after his passenger near the corner of Fountain Dr, Plymouth.

A 20-year-old Dandenong man and a 27-year-old Belmont man are assisting police with their inquiries.

Anyone who has seen the car or who has further information are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online report.
