A Prahran landlord who secretly filmed his tenant using hidden cameras after his sexual advances were rebuffed, has been ordered to pay a $1500 fine and placed on a one-year good behaviour bond.
Frank Mazzoni, 68, was placed on a one-year good behaviour bond and ordered to pay a $1500 fine, after pleading guilty at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on May 18.
The court heard he had stalked his tenant using several hidden cameras, including one concealed inside a faulty loungeroom fan.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Melissa Farley said Mazzoni planted the devices after his sexual advances towards the tenant were rebuffed, the victim had been “shocked” and “fearful” at the privacy breach, and had since moved out.

The court heard the tenant had moved into the property in early 2013 but only recently found one of the cameras while attempting to fix the broken fan.
Mazzoni’s defence lawyer Chris McLennan told Magistrate Tim Walsh his client felt “anxious” about his actions and accepted he’d “done the wrong thing”.
Mr McLennan also said his client had led a “blameless” life prior to his offending.
Mr Walsh said he hoped the $1500 fine would discourage any future offending on Mazzoni’s part and noted his previously unblemished criminal history.
“What was going on in your mind I hope has now left your mind,” Mr Walsh said.
“What I’m going to do is release you without conviction on the understanding you be on good behaviour.”
