Being surrounded by gorgeous jewellery and pricey gemstones is a tough gig, but someone’s got to do it.
Fortunately for Camberwell mum Reet Phulwani, who is a qualified gemmologist and diamond grader, that person is her.
She started her jewellery design business from her home in 2008 while she was pregnant with her first child and she said she was passionate about gemstones.
She said she was one of very few women of an Indian and Australian background working as a registered valuer and gemmologist, and she ran her company while juggling caring for her three children aged 11, 5 and 10 months.
She sells diamond and gemstone jewellery and designs unique pieces for customers.

THE CHANGE CAMBERWELL MARKET TRADERS ARE DREADING
She’s been nominated for a Ausmumpreneur Award in the multicultural excellence category, and she said winning the award would give her the confidence to pursue her passion further.
“Like any businesswoman I desire growth, but not only from the point of view of
economic contribution, my goal is to take my business to the next level,” she said.
“I am a dreamer but also a doer, so my goal is to establish my own jewellery
brand in the future and to distribute my jewellery pieces to a national market.”
Award winners will be announced on September 6.
