There, the victim was made to lean over the railing and one of the men pressed a broken bottle to his cheek while demanding the victim hand over his belongings.

The victim handed over his keys before the three men fled the area. They were last seen driving west on High St towards Malvern.

Stonnington CIU detective Senior Constable Samantha Russell said the attack was worrying, but she believed it was a case of wrong place, wrong time for the victim.

The man sustained only minor injuries, and Sen-Constable Russell encouraged anyone out and about at night to be vigilant of their surroundings.

Two of the men were described as being of caucasian appearance, while the third was believed to be of Middle Eastern appearance and aged in his 30s.

A digital image of the third man has been released by police and anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
