Three teenagers arrested after Tatura tobacco store break in, theft

Three teenagers have been arrested after the window of a tobacco store was smashed with a brick and an attempt to start a fire in public toilets in Tatura.

Three teenagers have been arrested after a a wild night of smashed windows, theft and attempted break-ins in a town in the state’s north..

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the offences occurred on Sunday night and into Monday morning at Tatura, allegedly by a 14-year-old girl, a 14 year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy.

“It is alleged the trio smashed the front window of a tobacconist store on Hogan St with a brick about 11.15pm,” she said.

“Once inside, they stole several items and fled the scene.

“They also damaged the inside of a bakery on Hogan St as well as attempting to set fire to public toilets on Francis St.”

Police also allege the three teenagers destroyed fence panels at a Hunter St kindergarten and damaged CCTV camera at a Hogan St convenience store.

The spokeswoman said the trio was arrested on Monday and interviewed by police.

She said the girl was issued a caution, and the boys were released pending further inquiries.

“Investigations remain ongoing,” she said.
