A Shepparton sex fiend has stolen a kelpie before taking it to his caravan to have sex with it, leaving the poor dog with serious injuries.
Paul Walton, 53, pleaded guilty in the County Court on Monday to bestiality and intentionally causing animal cruelty.
Walton stole his neighbour’s beloved kelpie dog Gemma on April 6 this year.
The depraved grub took Gemma back to his Ardmona caravan where he bound her legs with rope and black tape.
Walton also bound the 12-year-old female Kelpie’s mouth and nose with black tape and committed a vile act on the helpless dog.
Police raided his caravan on April 7 where they discovered still Gemma bound and shaking on the ground.
Investigators also discovered lubricant and a bloodstained carrot in Walton’s caravan.
Gemma was rushed to a vet where she was examined and found to have internal and external injuries.
The vet injected Gemma with immediate pain relief but then anesthetised her because she was shaking too much.
Investigators were onto Walton after Gemma’s owner alerted the grub’s father that his son may have stolen his dog.
The owner witnessed Walton drive up to his property then drive away before noting Gemma was missing.
Walton admitted to police he stole and bound Gemma but he “didn’t get to do what he wanted”.
The court was told Walton has priors for cruel abuse and bestiality committed on dogs.
He spent more than three years behind bars for prolonged cruelty committed over several weeks which left three dogs with “worse injuries” than what he caused to Gemma.
The court heard Walton, a dad, is ostracised in the Shepparton community and despised by the other sex offenders in his prison unit.
Some sex offender prisoners bash and taunt Walton and call him “dog f***er”, the court was told.
The court was told Walton still has the support of his parents but only sees his daughter in their company.
Walton has held various jobs including stints as a truckie and diesel mechanic.
Judge Trevor Wraight said Walton has a “relevant and serious prior criminal history”.
“This is very serious cruelty to an animal,” Judge Wraight said.
Walton, who appeared via videolink from Ravenhall, was remanded for sentencing on November 20.
The prosecution is also seeking $1302.92 compensation to cover vet bills and other costs.
Walton is already a registered sex offender for life.
