Shepparton Magistrates’ Court: Known drug dealer, hoon leads ’dangerous’ police chase

A wildcat Shepparton speed demon with a history of drug abuse has once again led police on a wild and dangerous chase.

Makala Mifka has a history of driving dangerously at high speeds.

A serial Shepparton hoon with an extensive history of drug offences clocked speeds of up to 150km/h as she again led police on a wild chase.

Makala Mifka, 30, faced the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court from custody via video link on Monday where pleaded guilty to the charges to multiple driving and drug charges, and was sentenced to 83 days imprisonment and lost her licence for two years.

On August 3 2023, the court heard Mifka was captured doing 150km/h on the Hume Highway and then the Goulburn Valley Highway.

Mifka led a “scary” and “potentially dangerous” 70km chase across the Greater Shepparton area.

Mifka’s defence admitted the “inherent seriousness” of the offending, and admitted that it would have cost significant police resources to apprehend her.

In 2020, Mifka was sentenced to 100 days behind bars after travelling 150km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Magistrate Peter Mithen was unimpressed with Mifka’s dangerous driving.

“This is a serious set of circumstances... It’s the second time you’ve done it in a three-year period,’’ he said.

“The community does not accept this behaviour”.

Mifka has already spent 81 days in custody, and after the end of her imprisonment will be spend three months in rehabilitation at the Bendigo Breach Program.

Mr Mithen told Mifka if she did not come out of this program rehabilitated, she was at serious risk of reoffending.

Mr Mithen also warned Mifka that if she drove while unlicensed, she faced up to two years imprisonment.

“You can consider yourself having been dealt with fairly leniently today,” he said.

“You need to get off this nasty drug, and I hope that this rehabilitation will give you that”.

Mifka will spend another two days in prison before her release.
