Heavy armed police swarmed a property on the Goulburn Valley Highway at Kialla on Monday after a man assaulted a woman and damaged a number of cars at a dealership.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the critical incident response team headed to the scene after a 32-year-old Kialla man entered a store and assaulted a woman in an unprovoked attack.
Afterwards he damaged a number of cars at a dealership on the Goulburn Valley Highway.
Officers cordoned off the area after the man entered the property in an agitated state shortly after 4pm.
It’s believed he was in a distressed and confused state at the time of the incidents.
On Tuesday, a Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed the man surrendered to police without incident and was taken to hospital for assessment.
“The man will be interviewed at a later date in relation to the outstanding criminal matters following the incidents in Kialla,” she said.
