Mooroopna men charged after stolen ute crashes into police car

Two people, including a man on bail, have been arrested after a stolen ute collided with a police vehicle in the state’s north.

Two men have been arrested after a allegedly stolen ute collided with a police vehicle in Mooroopna.

It is alleged the blue Holden utility collided with the police car on Mackellar St about 3.45pm on April 21.

The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and was later found at Riverside Plaza in Kialla.

The alleged driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old Mooroopna man, has been charged with more than a dozen charges after being arrested on Wednesday.

The charges include theft of motor vehicle, aggravated reckless exposure of a police officer to risk by driving, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

He was remanded to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

A 56-year-old Mooroopna man was also arrested on Wednesday and has been charged with theft of motor vehicle.

He was bailed to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on July 18.
