Police intercept man driving five times over alcohol limit in Benalla
A man has been busted getting behind the wheel after a boozy Good Friday, with police recording a blood alcohol reading of more than five times the legal limit.

A man has been busted driving more than five times over the legal limit in the state’s north after a massive Good Friday bender.
Benalla Highway Patrol officers were on patrol on Good Friday when they saw a vehicle driving slowly with no lights along Bridge St about 7pm.
When the vehicle pulled into a nearby carpark, officers gave the driver a preliminary breath test which gave a positive result.
The man went with police to Benalla station where he gave another breath test and returned a reading of 0.260.
The man’s licence was immediately suspended, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1280.
He was expected to be charged on summons with traffic related offences.
