A Mansfield family have been left without a home and “basically everything” they own after a fire ripped through their property while they were out having dinner on Saturday night.
Soph and James Octigan, along with their little boys Billy, 3, and Mav, 1, were out having dinner with their kids on Saturday, June 1 when the fire broke out.
Georgia Gregson, Soph’s sister, said neighbours called the family to tell them the house was on fire.
The house was destroyed in a short matter of time, and they lost “basically everything” according to Ms Gregson.
In one small moment of solace, the couple were able to find their wedding rings and save a couple of the boys’ blankets.
They are now staying with family in Bonnie Doon while they pick up the pieces.
James, who is originally from Bonnie Doon, works as an electrician at nearby Mt Buller.
Soph grew up in Seymour and looks after the two little ones.
The couple moved to Mansfield from Melbourne following the birth of Billy.
Both the kids attend daycare.
A GoFundMe to raise funds for the family is online.
