Man arrested after police car allegedly rammed in Shepparton

Police were forced to use capsicum spray on a man they allege rammed a cop car in Shepparton.

A man has been arrested after a police car was allegedly rammed in Shepparton on Tuesday morning.

Officers were initially called to reports of a suspicious vehicle on Knight Street about 6.05am where a man was observed sleeping in a silver Holden Commodore while the engine was running.

Authorities attempted to speak with the driver, but he allegedly became verbally aggressive towards officers and allegedly refused to comply with their directions.

He allegedly reversed and rammed a police vehicle several times before taking off towards Echuca Road.

Another police unit followed the vehicle which allegedly swerved and mounted a kerb before crashing into a parked car on Knight Street.

Officers used capsicum and arrested a 26-year-old man, before locating two firearms, drugs and cash inside the vehicle.

He is assisting Shepparton detectives with their inquires.

No one was injured during the incident.
