Court: Cobram’s Stephen Pinner cleared of raping woman

A Cobram man who was accused of raping a woman multiple times has been found not guilty by a jury.

A Cobram man facing 11 charges of rape has been found not guilty by a jury.

Stephen William Pinner, 57, stood trial in the Shepparton County Court over accusations he raped a woman multiple times in 2022.

The accusations had alleged Mr Pinner raped the woman 11 times during four separate incidents between April and August 2022 but the jury found him not guilty on all counts.

The woman reported the alleged rapes to Cobram police on August 15, 2022.

Mr Pinner, formerly of Dhurringile, was arrested by police the following day and gave a recorded interview, before he was released on summons.

Mr Pinner, originally from Tasmania, has lived in Cobram for 10 years.

Judge Geoffrey Chettle thanked the jury for its efforts in the trial.
