The mother of a young woman killed in a horrific crash in the state’s north has told a packed funeral she is “so incredibly proud and lucky to be hand picked to be your mum”.

Hundreds of people packed out a Hoppers Crossing funeral centre on Friday afternoon as friends and family came together to farewell Ruby Crowley

Ms Crowley’s tribute was read out by the celebrant, saying she was “so incredibly proud and lucky to be hand picked to be your mum.”

“I will miss you every day”, Ms Crowley concluded.

Peter, Ruby’s maternal grandfather, said she was an “impressionable young lady” who “adored her brothers and sisters” and was “fiercely loyal”.

Peter also remembered Ruby as being “destined to help people”, the greatest example donating her organs to help save five lives.

Maddison, Ruby’s best friend, gave a touching tribute to her mate, saying “You touched so many lives and left an incredible mark on our hearts”.

Brayden, Ruby’s cousin, said “Ruby’s comebacks were better than my own” and that Ruby went through a cat phase, often “hissing” at her cousins pretending to be a cat.

The service also spoke of Ruby’s passions in life.

Ruby loved reading, and also loved dogs, after her father Ryan gave her a puppy as a youngster.

Ruby was a passionate Essendon fan who fell in love with the team after attending the Dreamtime match against Richmond as a youngster.

Her first job was working at KFC, where she often enjoyed a box of popcorn chicken, but her real passion was working at a childcare centre where she thrived.

Ruby was going to join the Rumbalara Netball Team in Shepparton having recently made the move to Lemnos.

The service finished with a photo gallery accompanied by the song Ruby Tuesday by The Rolling Stones before the celebrant read out a quote from Winnie the Pooh.

The song November Rain by Guns N’ Roses, the last song Ruby ever listened to, was played to conclude the service.

Ruby died in a horrific three-way pileup near Shepparton on April.

Amanda Crowley’s partner Jarrod Stewart, who was seriously injured in the collision, joined the service via livestream.

Uber driver Shiva Kumar Jandhyala has been charged over the collision and is due to attend the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on May 6.
