23-year-old man drowns in Murray River at Barooga

A young man has died after he drowned in the Murray River on Friday.

A young swimmer has drowned after going missing in the Murray River on Friday.

A NSW police spokeswoman said that at 12.30pm on January 24 police were called to Micks Beach Rd, Barooga following reports of a 23-year-old man having difficulty in the water.

The swimmer’s body was found the following day at 11.45pm.

While it is yet to be formally identified, the body is believed to be that of the missing man.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
