A Broadford man accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old child among a raft of allegedly shocking crimes has applied for bail.

Jarrod Soderman, 38, fronted the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on July 29 for a brief filing hearing.

Mr Soderman, who was brought into the custody dock from the Shepparton cells, was represented by lawyer Ashlea Addamo.

It is alleged Mr Soderman sexually penetrated a 10-year-old child.

He is facing more than 60 charges, which include stalking, threatening to kill and threatening to commit a sexual offence.

The alleged offending began in December 2023 and occurred up until the month of his arrest.

Ms Addamo told the court that police had allegedly seized “19 devices” in relation to the matter.

Ms Addamo then told the court that Mr Soderman would be applying for bail.

Police opposed bail, saying that there were compelling reasons for Mr Soderman to be remanded into custody.

The court was closed by Magistrate Simon Zebrowski following a prosecution request to protect the accused and alleged victim which Ms Addamo did not oppose.

Bail was ultimately refused by Mr Zebrowski.

Mr Soderman will return to the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on November 26 for a committal mention.
