A Strathmerton agriculture worker busted for speeding has saved himself from losing his licence.

Tristan John Armitage pleaded guilty to driving while his licence was suspended and exceeding the speed limit at Cobram Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Armitage was busted doing 117km/h in a 100km/h zone in a white Toyota HiLux near Harris Rd in Numurkah about 6pm on January 20.

Police pulled over the 23-year-old and discovered his licence was suspended and impounded his vehicle at a cost of $1240.

Armitage — who works in the agriculture industry — informed his employer at the time he had lost his licence.

As a result, he lost his job two days later and was without a job for three weeks, the court heard.

Armitage told the court he “lost everything”.

Armitage also appeared in court in 2019 for driving while suspended.

Magistrate Alexandra Burt recommended Armitage pay attention to the speedometer in his car, and was “in two minds” with what to do with him.

Given the importance of his employment, Ms Burt told Armitage she was not going to “interfere” with his licence.

Armitage was fined $700 without conviction.
