A Bega Cheese worker and father was busted riding a powerful road bike while he was still on his probationary licence.
Ashley Burgess-Millar, 24, pleaded guilty to driving without the rear “P” plate displayed and driving a probationary prohibited vehicle at the Cobram Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Burgess-Millar was riding a black 1000cc Suzuki motorbike when police pulled him over on the Katamatite-Shepparton Rd at Invergordon about 7.35am on November 17 last year.
Burgess-Millar produced his licence and a breath test was done.
Police also inspected the motorbike and it was revealed on the VicRoads database the bike was not an approved vehicle to be ridden by a rider who had held held their motorbike licence for fewer than three years.
The father also didn’t have his rear probationary licence plate displayed.
The court heard Burgess-Millar told police at the time he had spoken to someone on the phone from VicRoads and said it was “OK”.
However, police pointed out he was still a P2 licence holder until December 8 last year which meant he rode the “unapproved” vehicle a month before he was fully licenced.
Magistrate Anne Goldsbrough fined Burgess-Millar $250 without conviction.
