Residents of a regional town in Victoria’s north can look forward to the opening of a chain supermarket store that has been given the green light for development.
The town of Yarrawonga will be the next place to get their own ALDI store.
Residents in the town — of which there are more than 7000 — have been calling for the supermarket since 2017.
“Come on aldi get a new store in Yarrawonga Victoria,” user Brian Rapson wrote on ALDI’s Facebook page in April 2017.
“Is Aldi likely to have a store in Yarrawonga soon?” user Len Quinlivian wrote to the company in October last year.
An ALDI spokesperson said they were excited to bring their “unique shopping experience” to the Yarrawonga community.
“The store will employ 10-15 full time and part-time employees,” the ALDI spokesperson said.
However they added there is not yet a determined time frame for the opening of the store at this point.
“We will update the community as our plans progress,” the spokesperson said.
ALDI has not yet confirmed where the supermarket will be constructed in the town.
