A Shepparton woman who stole almost $1500 worth of items from Woolworths and Coles has realised it was a “f--k up”.
Alexandra Horsley, 29, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from shop at the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The court heard Horsley — who appeared via web link wearing pink glasses — entered Woolworths on Benalla Rd in Shepparton on December 20 last year.
Horsley then placed items in a trolley valued at $441 and then left the store without paying.
On December 27 about 6.30pm, Horsley entered the Coles inside the Riverside Plaza in Kialla and collected items valued at $988 and did not pay for them and made her way to a nearby KFC.
Horsley was driven by a friend to transport her groceries back home.
Horsley was caught, arrested and taken to the Shepparton police station on December 28, the court heard.
The 29-year-old told police at the time she was with another person who gave her a lift to the Riverside Plaza.
She also said it was a “f**k up” and she intended to pay for her items but realised she had no money and panicked.
“This is on me — it was my decision,” Horsley told police.
She told them she “didn’t know what to do” because she couldn’t find her money to pay for her items.
“I was hoping I could catch up with my mate to find out what was going on,” Horsley said.
She did not comment when asked who owned the sedan that was driven by her friend to the plaza.
Horsley told the court she wants to “turn her life around” for her actions.
“I’m really not proud of that,” she said.
She also said she is studying and was originally from Moe in Gippsland and relocated to Shepparton to “work on herself”.
She was convicted and fined $2500.
“Keep working on yourself,” Magistrate Peter Dunn said.
