A Shepparton man has fronted court for the first time following a horrific cliff crash near Euroa that killed one of his passengers last year.
It is alleged Abdul Fatah Faizi, 51, was driving a ute that ran off the road and ran down a 10m embankment on Euroa-Mansfield Rd about 10.15pm on July 9, before hitting a tree.
Eid Mohammad Enam Khail, 59, died after being flown from Gooram to Melbourne in a critical condition, while Mr Faizi and another man were rescued by emergency services and were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Monday, Mr Faizi fronted the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on charges of dangerous driving causing death, careless driving of a motor vehicle and driving in a dangerous manner.
Mr Faizi was charged on April 27.
Magistrate Peter Mithen extended Mr Faizi’s bail and he will next appear in court for a committal mention on August 13.
